LOCAL AREA

The beautiful Willow Springs Lake is 30 minutes away. No fee for day use or to launch a boat, but a license is required to fish. Rim Country Recreation, (based in Payson) is a canoe/kayak/SUP/mountain bike rental company who will deliver your rentals to location of your choice, including the cabin or by the lakes. Contact them at (928) 978-9903. Woods Canyon Lake also has non-motorized rentals available, plus electric motor boats and peddle boats. There is horseback riding 40 minutes away at Kohls Ranch Stables from May-October. Go to kohlsranchstables.com for more information. Windy Hills Lavender Farm is a cute boutique offering local-grown lavender products. For a bit of group fun, check out Escape Rooms Heber, offering 3 different rooms to break out of. Of course, there is lots of great hiking as well!

GROCERY

There are several small, local markets close to Black Bear Cabin, including Overgaard Food Center, Heber Country Store (Heber Market), Dollar General and Family Dollar. Options are limited for fresh meat and produce at these locations. For full grocery stores, the closest ones are Safeway in Show Low or Holbrook, or a Bashas’ in Taylor, all of which are ~35 minutes away. The Safeway in Payson is 1 hour from the cabin.

RESTAURANTS

Baker’s Ponderosa Café: Open until 2:00 PM. Hit up for a yummy breakfast or lunch. Also, be sure to check out The Sweeter Side of Baker’s for a coffee, ice cream or delicious homemade baked good.

Red Onion Lounge: Open 11AM-8PM. Known for their steaks and burgers. Friday nights are all-you-can-eat beer-battered cod, Saturday night prime rib specials. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Pit Stop Pizza is the only local pizza and wings place that will deliver. GiGi’s is a great option with brick-oven pizzas, pastas and sandwiches but they do not deliver.

Casa Ramos: Mexican food, open 11AM-8PM, 9PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Features all your favorites (including seafood!) plus a good selection of tequila and bourbon

The Cabin Bar & Grill: open daily, 11AM-2AM. Live music and a Ribfest every Saturday. Indoor pool tables and outdoor games on their patio.

Three Bear’s Café and the Wood Shed are also good breakfast/lunch options
